Where should I host my videos?

Creating video content as a life coach is really common. Sometimes, those videos are just Facebook LIVEs, but a lot of times, you want to use those videos for something else: in your emails, on your website, within a membership site, etc.

But where do you host your videos?

Video hosting is necessary if you want to put your video up on your website or in an email, because the files are too large to save in your website or email marketing database. I don’t make the rules ??‍♀️

Soooo…hosting.

If your videos are not proprietary, meaning they aren’t paid-for content you’re worried about someone sharing, you can host them on Youtube. You can even keep them off your regular Youtube channel so the general public doesn’t see them by making them unlisted. Then the only way to see that video is by clicking the direct link to it (or you can embed them on your website).

It’s a great feature of Youtube, and it’s totally free to use. Score!

The only problem is, anyone who has the direct link to your unlisted Youtube video can copy it and share it with someone else. Anyone else. And that person can watch your video, too.

If, instead, your video is meant to be something only watchable on a certain page of your website by certain people who’ve paid for the privilege, you need to upgrade your video hosting to something a little more secure.

That’s where Vimeo comes in.

Vimeo is my favorite video hosting platform. It’s easy to use, it has all the features you could need or want to personalize your video content, and it’s affordable. Their base plan is just $7/month.

What I love most about Vimeo is that you can embed your videos with or without titles, thumbnails, authors, video controls, and all the good stuff. You can also add cover images to the beginning of them and make them look awesome.

So now that you know about your options, it’s up to you to decide which one fits your business needs the most.

And then you’ll have the answer to the question “where should I host my videos?”
