Hey coach! You’ve poured your heart into building your website, chosen your brand colors, uploaded gorgeous photos, and even nailed your homepage copy. But there’s one tiny detail you might’ve missed…and it’s showing up in every browser tab.
Yep, we’re talking about your favicon: that teeny-tiny icon that appears next to your site name.
That’s where understanding favicons comes in. By the way, we’re Cass and Tee, certified coaches and Co-Founders at Lovely Impact.
At Lovely Impact, we believe the small details are what turn your coaching brand from “pretty good” to polished and unforgettable.
In this post, we’re breaking down:
- What a favicon actually is (and why you’ve seen it everywhere)
- How this tiny icon boosts your brand recognition
- Why not having one can affect your credibility
- How to design and format your own favicon
- Step-by-step instructions to upload your favicon in Showit
Let’s dive right in!
What is a favicon?
A favicon (short for “favorite icon”) is a tiny square image that represents your website. You’ll usually see it in a browser tab, bookmarks bar, search history, and even mobile search results. It’s like your website’s personal stamp. Small but mighty.
For coaches, your favicon is another way to reinforce your visual brand and make your site recognizable at a glance. Think of it as a mini version of your logo or a symbolic brand icon.

Why your coaching website needs a favicon
Brand recognition made easy
Imagine a potential client has 12 tabs open while researching different coaches. Your favicon gives them a quick visual cue to come back to your site. When it matches your branding, it reinforces who you are and helps you stand out.
We’ve had people spot our favicon during screen shares and immediately recognize our brand. It really does make an impression.
Professionalism that builds trust
Let’s be real: a missing favicon can make your site feel unfinished. It’s one of those subtle signals that says, “This coach pays attention to details.” And details matter when someone’s deciding whether to trust you with their goals and growth.
Even if someone doesn’t consciously notice your favicon, the presence of one adds polish. And that polish builds credibility.
A better user experience
Have you ever had a bunch of tabs open and needed to quickly jump between them? A clear, branded favicon helps users keep track of your site. It reduces friction and makes it easier for people to return to your content. And better experience = higher engagement.

How to Create Your Own Favicon
Creating a favicon isn’t hard, you just need to keep a few key details in mind:
(If you’re using a website builder other than Showit, double-check the recommended favicon format. Some still prefer .ico files, while others work best with PNG.)
1. Keep it simple but branded
Use a simplified version of your logo or a recognizable brand icon. Since the size is so small, less is more. Avoid tiny text or complex details that won’t scale well.
2. Choose the right format
While .ico is the classic favicon format (and still required on some platforms), most modern website builders support transparent .png files. For best results, use a 32x32px transparent PNG to ensure it looks crisp and clean on all devices.
Pro Tip: If you’re using a platform that requires .ico, you can convert your PNG to .ico for free using tools like ICO Converter.
3. Test it on different devices
Make sure your favicon looks crisp and consistent across browsers and screen sizes. Check it on desktop, tablet, and mobile to make sure it holds up!
4. Keep it current
If you rebrand or update your logo, don’t forget to refresh your favicon, too. An outdated icon can send the wrong message about your attention to detail.
How to Upload Your Favicon in Showit (Step-by-Step)
Since Showit is our go-to website builder for coaches, we’ve got you covered with simple steps to get your favicon uploaded and live on your site. We’ve included a video that teaches you how to do it, and also have written instructions for you below 🙂
Step 1: Prep your favicon
Create a 32×32 px transparent PNG file for best results in Showit. Make sure it’s high contrast and easy to recognize at a small size.
Step 2: Log in to your Showit account
Head to showit.co and sign in. Open the site you want to update.
Step 3: Go to Site Settings
In your dashboard, click “Site Settings” from the left sidebar.
Step 4: Locate the favicon upload area
In the settings window that appears, look for the “Favicon” section.

Step 5: Upload your image
Click “Choose Image” and either select your favicon from your media library or upload a new one. Once selected, it’ll appear as a preview in the settings.
Step 6: Save and publish
Close the settings window and hit “Publish” at the top right of your Showit editor. This pushes your favicon live.
Step 7: Test it out
Visit your site and check the tab. Voila! You should see your new favicon. If it doesn’t show up right away, try clearing your browser cache or waiting a few minutes.
Quick troubleshooting tips
- Not showing up? Double-check the file format and size.
- Still not showing? Clear your browser cache and refresh.
- Uploaded the wrong image? Just upload a new one and republish.
Give your brand the polish it deserves
A favicon might be small, but it does some seriously heavy lifting when it comes to making your coaching website feel polished, credible, and unforgettable.
It’s one of those details that communicates professionalism and care, and in an industry built on trust, that goes a long way.
So go ahead, coach. Add that final sparkle to your site and let your brand shine, right down to the browser tab.
