An Interview with Health & Lifestyle Coach Maggie Williams

We truly believe the world needs women coaches and change-makers NOW more than ever. To support that, we’re starting a movement called #welovecoaches where we feature coaches from around the world and celebrate the work they do.

INTRODUCE YOURSELF!

Hi. My name is Maggie Williams and I’m a Certified Health & Lifestyle Coach. I love helping busy women develop healthy eating and lifestyle habits so they can grow in their personal and professional lives. Let’s face it, habits are the fuel behind everything we do and they can propel us forward or slow us down no matter how great our intentions.

It’s not enough just to change your habits, but you must first realize your purpose and who you want to be and work to become that person in your everyday decisions. I believe in small, actionable, baby steps, and celebrating your wins to achieve lasting sustainable success.

SHARE A LITTLE ABOUT WHY YOU CHOOSE TO BE A COACH.

I love being around people and I’ve always been active and had an interest in healthy living. I retired from the elementary education field and enjoy teaching. I’ve seen the effects of poor diet and lack of exercise in both children and adults alike.

I became the resident “healthy person” at my school and my church and whenever anyone had questions about food, lifestyle, sickness, they came to me. I love learning and became a walking encyclopedia about health & wellness.

I saw that it was a tremendous need and I decided to get certified so I could help even more people.

WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF COACHING ADVICE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE READING?

Too often people are looking for quick fixes to their health concerns. It’s not an overnight process. It took time for you to get into the position you’re in and it’ll take time and effort to turn things around. If someone is telling you that all you have to do is take this pill, drink this shake, and you don’t have to do anything else, run the other way as fast as you can.

It’s not about being perfect and never eating dessert or skipping a workout, but about making conscious decisions that are in line with your goals.

Start small and pick a couple of areas to work on and be consistent!!! For example, drink one more glass of water, eat one more vegetable, work out 10 more minutes than you did last week. Set small goals, achieve them, and set new ones. Rinse and repeat!!!

I don’t have a one-size-fits-all program. I work on laying the proper foundation and building according to the client’s needs and desires. My 12-week program includes helping women find their identity and purpose, learn about the best foods that fuel their body so they can create a meal plan they can easily follow. We work on getting movement into their day, self-care, having a better self-image, having a non-toxic home by using safe, DIY products both for cleaning and personal care. Lastly, we work on getting better sleep, reducing stress, and building strong relationships.

I am a Christian and much of my coaching is based on biblical principles but you do not have to share my views for us to work together.

CAN YOU SHARE A CLIENT SUCCESS STORY WITH US?

I worked with one client who had trouble sleeping, suffered from leg cramps at night, and wanted to make better choices in eating the right foods. She had a very busy life and we talked about having balanced meals and the importance of planning ahead. With my help, she developed a system to prep meals for the week for both lunch and dinner. We also discussed ways to get more vegetables into her diet and try new things.

Food is medicine and I shared how certain can restore the body better than over the counter medications.

I like to incorporate lifestyle changes using non-toxic cleaning and personal products, having a regular self-care routine that led to better sleep. She became more aware that some of her habits were causing many of her problems. The more changes she made, the better she felt and the more energy she had.

She said the biggest gamechanger for her was having accountability and someone to walk alongside her in her health journey.

THANK YOU SO MUCH Maggie FOR SHARING YOUR PASSION! HOW CAN PEOPLE REACH YOU?
